medalj.nuis an initiative to an overall covering database for all orders, decorations, medals and signs of distinctions that can be worn on a Swedish military uniform. It sorts formost Swedish orders, decorations, medals and signs of distinctions in the goups A-L and thereafter the Nordic countries, the rest of foreign and international decorations that we have chosen to name group M-P. Sorting is done according to Swedish Armed Forces order of wear, which differs slightly from the order determined by the Swedish Court and Foreign Ministry.

All Swedish medals in groups A-L are approved for wear to Swedish military uniform. In group M listed foreign medals are only the Korea Service Medal in silver and Royal Netherlands Association for Physic Education's Marching Cross (The Four Days Medal). All other decorations requires special approval from Swedish Armed Forces HQ. Foreign decorations recieved in the line of duty can be worn without special approval.

In group N are the UN medals with general approval from HQ. In group O are other International decorations, many with general approval, among them the EU and NATO medals. In group P are two so called "unofficial orders with general approval" from HQ. Finaly the group X sorts unknown medals or medals we would like to know more about, in group Y are medals that are not approved by HQ, expressed or unspoken. In group Z are other medals without formal approval for wear but that can be worn at society meetings or other occasions and to civilian dress.

The decorations shall be worn in the order described here. By clicking on the buttons for the decorations you generate the correct order of wear. The results are shown as a text list as well as a graphic presentation of your ribbons. Medals from groups X-Z have deliberately been excluded. If you register as a user you can save your selections at the site for future use and add new medals when you want to.
